Song of the Day: Thomas Fiss “Ice”

Last year, Thomas Fiss released RT/EP, a collection of songs written by OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder. One of the standout tracks on the EP has to be “Ice,” a smooth yet cold (pun intended) pop/R&B song.

Interview: Kady Z

Kady Z is an up and coming pop star with infectious dance music that promises to take the world by storm. The daughter of actress/songstress Pia Zadora, Kady Z is making a name for herself with her charming voice and fun beats. The Zadorable singer recently released her official music video for her first single, “Beautiful Disaster,” which currently stands at almost 30,000 views.

Kady Z answered a few questions for Truth Or Sarah, regarding growing up with a talented mother, her upcoming music, and what she does for fun. Enjoy!

How would you describe your music?

Fun pop songs set to a dance beat!

Your stage name is Kady Z. As in Zadora. As in Pia Zadora. Did your mom’s talents as a singer encourage you to become a singer? What was the biggest push to start your music career?

She definitely inspired me. I was always mesmerized by her when she performed. I think seeing her get back into performing and how much fun she was having doing it pushed me to the next level.  Thanks mom! ;)

What is the main inspiration for your songs?

The most important thing in the world, in my opinion, love.

What singers or bands inspire your sound and style?

Robyn is one of my idols. She keeps her style and music so real and exciting, and she can sing!!

Are there any personal experiences that influenced the lyrics to your songs?

All the songs, except for Feel, which is a Robbie Williams cover, are from personal experiences!

Who is your ideal audience?

If I’m your ideal artist, you’re my ideal audience!!

You recently released your music video for “Beautiful Disaster” (which was awesome btw). What was it like shooting a pop video? What was it like working with David Gallagher?

Thank you! It was so much fun.  I was extremely nervous to be working with such a huge talent!! But David is as cool and professional as they come!

What has been your proudest moment so far?

My mom and dad both came to one of my live shows recently and they were so proud! Making those two proud is probably my proudest moment so far.  They are a tough crowd!!

What do you hope to achieve by the end of this year?

I want to have my own line of singing chocolate where when you bite into a piece ‘Beautiful Disaster’ starts playing.

Just For Fun:

If you had to pick a side job, what would you choose?

I would either want to own my own bakery or be a first grade teacher!

What’s your guilty pleasure tv show?

Revenge!!!

Would you ever collaborate with your mom on a song?

Only if it involves a tap number!

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

The Final Countdown by Europe.

What’s on your bucket list?

I want to see the Himalayas and drink Darjeeling tea ’til I drop! Oh and open up a Taverna in Santorini!

Anything else you’d like to tell readers?

Yes! Thank you for reading!!!

Song of the Day: The Decoration “That Girl’s Got Spark”

Up and coming acoustic duo The Decoration is renovating the whole sound of acoustic music. The twosome (Jake Bosci and Rhian Thomas) look like PacSun models and have the vocals to match their flawless appearance. The native Australians currently reside in Ontario, Canada, but their music is available through major media outlets throughout the US and Canada.

The song, “That Girl’s Got Spark” is a prime example of how fun acoustic songs can be. The limited instrumentals help underscore the duo’s angelic vocals and gorgeous harmonies. The chorus is upbeat and the overall song has an easy-breezy, fun vibe to it.

Make sure to pick up the song on iTunes!

P.S.–The band are set to release an acoustic EP on June 5th 2012 titled ‘Me & My Mistakes’.

Song of the Day: Kady Z “Beautiful Disaster”

Kady Z is the American alternative to Canadian pop princess Carly Rae Jepsen. Those infatuated with Jepsen’s sugary sweet vocals would love Kady Z’s equally cute voice and adorable lyrics. The music video for the song features David Gallagher (of 7th Heaven fame, for those 90s babies out there).

The EP, One Million Pieces, from which “Beautiful Disaster” comes from, is already catching success, charting on Top 40 radio (#53 last week).

Jenny and Ashley Living the “Life”

Truth:

Jenny (16) and Ashley (14) Cooke are two sisters who’ve started a country pop duo, getting ready to release their Our Kinda Life EP. With a tour underway and an upcoming EP, the girls are living the pop star life they dreamed of.

The girls’ new single, “My Kinda Life,” is now available on iTunes, and a lyric video has been released for it, as well as a teaser for the upcoming music video.

Sarah:

Sibling acts have long been mainstays in pop culture: Bee Gees, Jonas Brothers, the Veronicas, Tegan and Sara, etc. Even today, twins Megan & Liz are gaining momentum with their sibling power. Now fresh-faced Jenny and Ashley plan to bask in their own sibling revelry. The country-pop duo already has an EP under their belt, Songs about You, co-produced by Darren Smith (Tim McGraw). The girls’ videos “Beach Weekend” and “Indescribable” can also be seen on Demand in Music Choice’s Kidz Only music videos. “Beach Weekend” currently stands at over 151,000 views on YouTube, and showcases the girls’ likability. With innocent teen lyrics and adorable harmonies, plus a little country twang, they appeal to the demographic “Hannah Montana” left behind.

We’re going to the beach this weekend
Me and some of my best girlfriends,
Playing in the clear blue water
Ridin double on a wave runner
Dancin across the red, hot summer sand,
Looking pretty hot in our new tans,
Making sure the fun never ends,
We’re going to the beach this weekend!

We’re going to the beach this weekend
Me and some of my best girlfriends,
Putting on the sun tan lotion,
Hope to cause a little commotion.
Trying out our brand new bikinis,
Maybe drive a few boys crazy!
Making sure the fun never ends,
We’re going to the beach this weekend!

Their infectious (and pearly white) smiles are sure to make fans gravitate to their shows and their chill songs are relatable to the wide t(w)een market.

Make sure to stay up to date with Jenny and Ashley through their official website!

Song of the Day: Cassadee Pope, “Original Love”

Frontwoman of the now-on hiatus Hey Monday, Cassadee Pope is prepping to release her self-titled  EP later on this year. She is currently streaming her first single, “Original Love,” an original and witty love song. The lyrics are cute without being cheesy and her Hey Monday wail is prominent in the chorus.

There’s no rhyme and there’s no reason
When we rode around and talked in silly accents
It’s unbelievable and hysterical
You leaned in to kiss me and gave me a black eye
But since then my vision’s so clear
We don’t have to try
Cause it comes so naturally

It’s our original love
cause no one gets me like you
I can’t get enough
Cause i light up when i see you
Original love
You’re the bees knees, sweetie
Our own kind of love….

Song of the Day: the Glass Child, “I’ll Never Tell”

Swedish-born, London resident the Glass Child has released her latest single, “I’ll Never Tell,” a song to raise awareness for domestic violence and mental illness. The Glass Child’s pure vocals evoke the raw emotions of domestic violence victims and mentally ill patients.

I saw these things, I didn’t know how to speak up, and so I turned to my art because that’s my only chance to get heard in this place. These are things that you don’t talk about, eating disorders, self harm, depression and domestic violence. I know you’re averting your eyes now. You probably don’t wanna keep reading. It’s uncomfortable. Blind people.. It’s happening right in front of your eyes, and nothing is gonna change that until we accept the simple fact that it exists.

There are no words for it. So I’m speaking through my music, these dancers are speaking through their movements, and the result is an official music-video to my song ‘I’ll Never Tell’, with these dancers speaking their language, and I’m speaking mine. Together we’re hoping that we can open someone’s eyes. That it can leave a scar, make a mess inside someone, just like it has done to me. Hoping that it can make someone out there aware. Hoping that maybe if we dare to acknowledge this, and say that it’s okay to talk about, because you’re not alone, then maybe one single person out there dare to talk up about it too. And maybe, if more people dare to accept these truths, and that it’s probably happening to someone you love, then one day we might be able to do something about this. But that’s not gonna happen as long as we’re shifting our weight, averting our eyes when someone mention domestic violence or self-harm.

—-Charlotte Erikson (the Glass Child)

The music video, featuring Italian dancers Enza Cara and Francesco Cara, was just released and can be viewed below:

In Remission To Release “The Great And Shallow” EP

Truth:

English hardcore band, In Remission, is prepping to release their newest EP, The Great & Shallow. This EP would be the second studio release from the band recently signed to Poison Tree Records. The Great & Shallow can currently be streamed on their Facebook page.

Sarah:

Across the pond in Bedfordshire, England is In Remission, a melodic hardcore/ prog rock band. They’ve gathered their accolades in the UK, performing at festivals and being played on BBC Introducing. With their new EP dropping next month, the band can look forward to gaining more fans, both in the UK and America.

“Fractions” opens the EP with its lively drums and guitars. The song, from which the EP title comes from, is the most aggressive on the album, with sick breakdowns and harrowing vocals. The song highlights the musical talents of Tom Norman (Guitar), Rodney Smith (Guitar), Dan Reeves (Bass), and Tom Edwards (Drums), as well as the vocal ability of Daniel Lillie.

“Broken Notes” proves to be the textbook definition of melodic hardcore, with smooth guitar riffs and operatic vocals mixed with hard-hitting drums. The emotion-filled vocals lament the poetic chorus:

I can’t be the only one
Who could read
Who could see right through you

“Discipline” opens with a 30 second instrumental intro, a medley of bass, guitars, and drums. The medley carries throughout the track, working together to create chorus chords and sick moments within the song. It’s a bit more upbeat than the other songs on the EP, but it fits in with the progressive rock approach. The ending itself is a production masterpiece (the album was produced by Jordan Fish of The Worship). The canty vibe in “Discipline” is interposed by the tedious guitar chords and heart-pounding drums of “Floodlights.” The song is full of gang vocals and Lillie’s captivating voice. The breakdowns compete with the vocals as the best part of the song, but either way, the song is amazing.

The subtle “woos” heard in “Ambitions,” making it the soon to be standout live track with guaranteed audience participation. Again, the band pays attention to the intro’s detail, with a peaceful and euphonious opening.

The EP closes out with “Solstice.” Edwards hits consistently hard beats, while Norman, Smith, and Reeves play melodious riffs. Lillie’s vocal abilities are unquestionable with the hint of falsetto, as well as the long notes he manages to hold. The lyrics also gracefully makes atmospheric terms sound beautiful.

In Remission definitely has something going for them. With a versatile sound and similarities to System Of A Down and 30 Seconds To Mars, the band EP is sure to be well-received by fans and new listeners.

Song of the Day: The Ready Set “Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever)”

The Ready Set just dropped the best song ever. No, really, it’s called “Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever).” If this song doesn’t get you moving, you should see a doctor.

Family Force 5 Releases “III.V”

Truth:

Family Force 5 follows up their album III, with the III.V EP. The EP has two new tracks, as well as three acoustic remixes of previously released songs. The album can  be purchased through their merch store and through digital outlets.

Sarah:

III.V is an extension of III (released October 2011), and it is certainly heard in the first two tracks. The new songs, “Zombie” and “Cray Button,” are more examples of why FF5 owns the crunk rock market. Not only is it an extension of their wildly popular album, but it’s an extension of their success this year. Their single, “Can You Feel It” was featured in the trailer for the movie, “Battleship” (starring Liam Neeson and Rihanna); they released their music video for “Wobble” (currently at over 95,000 views); and they’re fresh off their successful Rise Up tour.

While “Zombie” is set to be the single of the EP, the standout tracks are “Cray Button” and “Superhero (acoustic remix).” “Cray Button is a dubstep mix with fun lyrics and a dance-y beat.

I will show you crazy, I’m a maniac
No more final warning, I’m not holding back
I ain’t going nowhere, let the roof cave in
Time to blow up something, here goes nothing
Watch me hit the cray button

Cray (x3)

Let’s get cray
Turn it all the way up
Got a double dose of bass
You’ll love this so much
Get out of your head
Get out of your skull
If you ain’t gettin’ cray
Then you ain’t got a pulse
A lunatic, a time bomb just got dropped
I get cray all day, it’s my full time job
Wild like a wolfpack, howlin’ at the moon
Attack, attack, you got bitten by the boom

I ain’t going nowhere, let the roof cave in
Time to blow up something, here goes nothing
Watch me hit the cray button

Cray (x3)

Put your fives in the sky if you’re feelin’ alive
Throw ten in the air ’cause you don’t care
Cray Bans on, rock your cranium
3-2-1, detonation

I wonder what happens when I hit the cray button?
I guarantee the whole place starts jumpin’

Imma do it!
Watch me hit the cray button
I hit the cray button

I pledge allegiance to the U.S.Cray

“Superhero” was given an acoustic makeover on the EP. Soul Glow Activatur’s (Solomon Olds) voice is pure with a hint of his signature raspiness. The acoustic version brings out the meaning in the lyrics more.

The EP also features acoustic remixes of “Kountry Gentlemen” (Business Up Front/Party in the Back) and “Fever” (Dance or Die).

Make sure to pick up the album on iTunes or order a physical copy here.
